Fostering in Staffordshire

Fostering is an extremely rewarding career and working with Care 4 Children means you will never lack the support and guidance you need to make a real difference to a young person’s life. As we are a small Staffordshire foster care agency, we can offer a very personal service to support you through the process of becoming a foster carer for the first time or throughout your career regardless of whether you have extensive experience or are relatively new to fostering.

All sorts of people are needed to be foster carers, both couples and single people from all different backgrounds and cultures and with or without children of their own. If you have pets, this is fine as long as they do not pose any risk to children, which would be looked at early in the assessment process. People who work full- or part-time are also needed and all carers receive training and support.

We arrange different types of placements at our Stafford fostering agency, including emergency placements and short-term or respite placements that can last from one night up to several years. Long-term placements involve the child or children staying with their foster carer until they are young adults and become independent.

Children who exhibit challenging behaviours or need extra care due to health problems need enhanced placements, for which carers are paid an increased rate. Parents can also need support and this can be arranged for one or both parents in addition to their children.

Staffordshire has a large and varied population, meaning that young people from many different backgrounds are in need of foster carers. The process of becoming a foster carer starts with an informal chat, which is followed by a personal visit from one of our staff. Only then would you need to decide whether to apply to foster.
