The Retreat, a Care 4 Children home specialising in caring for girls who have been subject to child sexual exploitation, has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ following an official inspection from Ofsted, the independent watchdog.
Staff were praised by inspectors for ensuring ‘young people receive all the care they need to thrive physically, emotionally, socially and educationally’.
Ofsted commented: “Young people thrive as a result of the care that they receive from an enthusiastic and highly committed staff team. Staff view young people as an extension of their own family and take immense pride in all of their achievements, no matter how small.”
A young person told the inspector, ‘Ever since I was a kid I just wanted to be loved and cared for and be normal, and now I am.’
The Retreat home manager, Hannah Colbran and the senior management team from our Sexual Trauma division are delighted with the outcome and to have maintained their ‘Outstanding’ rating. Commenting, Hannah said: “The whole team go above and beyond to deliver an outstanding service to the children in our care every day, they are kept at the heart of everything we do. We are delighted that this was officially recognised by Ofsted.”
Kamran Abassi, Care 4 Children Managing Director added: “The report, which includes so many positive comments from our children, is testament to the quality of staff and services across the group. A huge congratulations from the whole Care 4 Children family for this tremendous result.”
